The Somali National Union of Teachers (SONUT) is an organization that represents teachers in Somalia which plays  an important role in advocating for the rights and welfare of teachers. Its members are from pre-tertiary levels of the educational system, that is from public and private primary, junior and senior secondary schools, teacher training colleges, and technical institutes.

SONUT formerly known as SNUT was established  by professional teachers from seven different regions across Somalia. It has been set to relive the hopes and support teachers in our effort to transform the lives of our students at all levels of education. SONUT is committed to provide programs answering to teacher’s basic needs that are relevant to their current situation. SONUT is a bonified affiliate of the Somali Congress Of Trade Union (SOCOTU).
